It's been a year since I've entered Moanalua as a freshman. I was lost and confused. I was taught many things that I had no such knowledge of and I was faced with many challenges. Through all of this, I then realized my "coming of age" was starting to take place.
I came from a middle school that wasn't, well, that smart. Going from Dole Middle school, to Moanalua High School made a big difference for me. I knew that it wasn't play time anymore. I knew that all my teachers were preparing me for the real world. Especially in my CAP class. Figuring out what I was in store for me in the future made me realize that graduation is right around the corner and I need to really step up my game and figure out what I needed to do in life to be successful. What also made a big difference was joining sports. I used to think cheerleading as a not so serious sport. Then when I got in, I had cuts, bruises, and sprained mostly every joint in my body. That's when I knew it wasn't all fun and games.
I'm still in the process of maturing. But if you compare me now to what I was then, you'll see a big difference. You'll notice my choice of style, the way I speak, the way I act, and how seriously I take things in high school has all changed. Now that I'm a sophomore, I'm thinking of joining many more sports and clubs. I think it'll help me become more mature mentally, and physically.
