Summary: During the year 1973 when the Supreme court case Roe v. Wade ruled that women have the right to to an abortion for the first 6 months of pregnancy. The court asserted that abortion is a fundamental right under the U.S Constitution and prohibiting abortion would violate the due process clause of the 14th Amendment. When considering to obtain an abortion, it's important that a woman make a well-informed decision. There are many reasons why women decide to to have abortions. For example, having a baby would dramatically change her life, they can't afford a baby, having a baby would interfere with their education, work, etc. and much, much more.
Proposition: I feel that abortion should be illegal to only women who know they can afford to have baby. It isn't right to just end a life, or a upcoming newborn because you feel like it. I feel that abortion should only be given to women who know that they aren't ready to have a baby because they can't afford one or if they're just not ready to have a child because it'll interfere with school and such. If they're a teen and they're thinking of abortion, they should go for it because they're too young to have a child and how do you expect them to take care of a baby if they can't even take care of themselves? But once they go through the procedure, they should be taken into counseling or something so that they know better not to make the same mistake again
Dear Alex,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your arguement. I, too, believe that abortion is wrong but should only be available as an option to those women who aren't prepared to raise a child of their own.
Hey Alex,
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree with you. I feel that abortion should not be allowed no matter the situation. If a teenager is pregnant, then they should still have the baby even if they can't afford to take care of it, they can give it up for adoption instead. Any baby has a right to get a chance to live. If you think about it, abortion is like murdering a human being.
I agree with both of you, this is one of the more controversial topics that I like to argue against. I feel that abortion is like taking a life from a child that didn't get to show the world what they can do, and it should be considered man slaughter. There is always adoption if they don't want to raise the child.
ReplyDeleteHi Alex,
ReplyDeleteYour topic provoked lots of responses. However, your proposition needs to be improved. You need to be able to state it in a single sentence.
